Hey there Andy:
Last time we spoke you were planning to have me delivering to the restaurants for you; after a holding cooler warehouse had been set up on the peninsula.
Since then, I was a hit & run victim, & have been trying to get by on CA state temp disability ($436 mo.)while the disks in my lower back heal.
Thank the Goddesses for Billiam Crepps, who has me help @ the tuesday market, because my rent is $600. We all have our crosses to bear, I know.
It sure would be awesome to help you in some way w/ the business.
Mushroom John is looking to get a cargo bike to facilitate his SF deliveries.
He has me in mind to be his man for this route work. What do you say?
Do you have that ladybug candle lantern in service?
I sure do miss you, old friend…

Andy,

I'm so happy to see that others are as enamoured of your writing as I've been all these years! No one sets up a scene like you do, you know. I'm so happy to see that you have your own, dedicated blog.

Keep it up!

Thanks for the nice comments. I remember 3:30 AM's trucks. In between farm jobs I worked for a little organic produce company out of Watsonville called Oranic Matters and spent a lot more nights going up to the city. I can think of two "food" stories that haven't been told yet. One would be a look at the food world from the point of view of someone who has spent a career working the wholesale produce terminals, like Jerrold Street, South City, or the mother of all terminal markets, the Hunts Point Terminal Market in the Bronx. Another interesting book to read would be a biography of Veritable Vegetable, since the ups and downs and the curves in the roads they've taken could amount to a history of the counterculture as seen through a unique lens.

Hi Andy,

I love all your pieces and this one is a fine example. I remember Bolinas, Mt. Tam, and SF from back in those days, although now I am much farther north . . .

Keep writing, you shine . . .

Andy, your posting is something I anticipate eagerly. I was out of your loop for a bit but am happily back in the fold. There is so little real literacy in the world, especially on the subject nearest a foodie's heart. You are a most unique philosopher-farmer.
